Derek Medhurst
Consultant
Derek is an experienced practitioner in helping organisations to use the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Model in their improvement drives. Since 1993 he has worked with many organisations using this management and diagnostic framework, in the financial services industry and elsewhere in the private and not-for-profit sector.
Goals for using the Model have included identifying where further improvements are needed; understanding culture and organisational alignment issues; people development; and applying for external awards. Support has included facilitating self-assessments; awareness and training workshops; guidance on embedding the principles of Excellence; coaching on the creation of Excellence Award documents; and '3rd party' style assessments.
He has worked with the Model in Europe, US, Middle East and Africa. In 2003, Derek was one of the first two recipients of a Personal Recognition Leadership Award from EFQM.
